You
qualify for a Thoroughbred Health Savings Account if you
are enrolled in a qualified high-deductible health plan
(HDHP).
Both
you and your employer may contribute money to your account.
The total contribution allowed in 2009 by you and your
employer combined may equal the full amount of your deductible
in your HDHP up to a maximum of $3,000 on an individual
policy or $5,950 on a family policy. You may also
contribute an additional catch up contribution of $1,000 if you are age 55 or older and not enrolled in Medicare.
The total contribution allowed in 2010 by you and your employer combined may equal the full amount of your deductible in your HDHP up to a maximum of $3,050 on an individual policy or $6,150 on a family policy. You may also contribute an additional catch up contribution of $1,000 if you are age 55 or older and not enrolled in Medicare.
